Giuseppe Cannizzaro is board member of Sator S.p.A. and member of the “Audit Committee” of Sator S.p.A., ex D.Lgs. 231/2001. He is also Deputy Chairman of Sator Immobiliare SGR S.p.A. and chairman of the "Audit Committee" ex D.Lgs. 231/2001 of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.
He is Of Counsel of the international law firm Gianni, Origoni, Grippo & Partners; he assists the companies of the Sator group regarding legal matters.
From 2004 to June 2007, he was Head of the Legal Department of the Capitalia Group, and Deputy General Manager of Capitalia S.p.A. from May 2006 until June 2007.
From 1983 to 2004, he worked at CONSOB. From 1995 to 2001 he was Head of the advice and corporate law office within the legal research division at CONSOB. From July 2001 to July 2004 he was Head of the Issuers’ division. He represented CONSOB in the “Draghi Committee”, created by the Ministry of the Treasury in order to amend the consolidated laws on finance, and took part in the Committee established by the Ministry of Justice in order to amend Italian corporate law. Giuseppe Cannizzaro was a member of the working team created by the Italian Stock Exchange to amend the corporate governance code of public companies.
He was a member of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of Mediocredito Centrale and a member of the Boards of Directors of Capitalia Solutions and Capitalia Partecipazioni. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the banking dispute resolution association named “Conciliatore Bancario”, and as President of the Technical Committee for financial regulation established within ABI as well as a member of the coordination committee for the implementation of the MiFID directive.
Giuseppe Cannizzaro received a BA in Commercial Law from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, and a BS in Corporate and Securities Law from Northwestern University, Chicago.
He teached at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. At present he teaches at LUISS “Guido Carli” University in Rome.
He published several studies in important books and legal reviews regarding financial markets law.
